Walt Disney World® Golf is Proud to Again Host the Special Olympics Florida State Golf Championship

Walt Disney World® Golf, operated by Arnold Palmer Golf Management, is proud to again be hosting the Special Olympics Florida State Golf Championships, September 8–9, 2017. We are honored to have previously hosted this event in 2014, 2015 and 2016.

This event follows our very successful hosting of the Special Olympics Florida Invitational earlier this year, which raised close to $1 million in support of over 38,000 athletes competing in Special Olympics Florida sporting events around the state, including the upcoming State Golf Championships. As a result of the fundraising activities, the athletes and their caregivers do not incur any costs to participate in these events, which helps to enable a larger number of athletes to become involved.

We expect over 270 Special Olympics athletes from around Florida to participate in this year’s event.

The State Golf Championships will be played on Disney’s Magnolia and Disney’s Oak Trail golf courses, as well as Disney’s Magnolia Driving Range and Practice Putting Green, where skills challenges will take place.

There are six levels of play in the event, based upon each player’s ability:

  • Individual skills (Level 1) – Disney’s Magnolia Driving Range and Putting Green
  • Unified alternate shot 9-hole (Level 2) – Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course
  • Unified alternate shot 18-hole (Level 3) – Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course
  • Individual play 9-hole (Level 4) – Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course
  • Individual play 18-hole (Level 5) – Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course
  • 3-hole demonstration – Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course

If you are interested in supporting the event by volunteering, we would welcome your participation! For more information, please contact Special Olympics Florida at (352) 243-9536, or complete the contact form on their website.

We look forward to welcoming these amazing athletes, their families, coaches, and friends to the “Happiest Place on TURF!”
